Christmas 2009
Dear CAMP Supporter,
Thank you for your support of CAMP. Due to your generosity, and the support of the churches and businesses in our service area, we have been able to increase our assistance to the growing number of needy families in the Valley View and New Lebanon School Districts this year.
Every Thursday night people in this community who are having difficulty feeding their families visit our food pantry at the Masonic Temple in Farmersville. They are greeted by CAMP volunteers and provided with a week’s worth of groceries. This year, we provided more than 600 weeks of food to the households that visited the CAMP food pantry.
In 2009, CAMP also provided emergency financial assistance to 37 local families to help with utilities and other critical needs. Thanks to generous donations of many, CAMP also provided 20 households with furniture and 60 men, women and children with warm, clean coats.
To help these families receive the state and federal assistance they need, CAMP has created a team of local volunteers who are trained counselors of the Ohio Benefit Bank. Volunteers use a specially-designed online system to assess clients’ eligibility for public benefit programs and provide completed applications for these programs, including food stamps, child care subsidies, home energy assistance, Medicaid and tax credits. This year, CAMP Benefit Bank volunteers processed nearly 100 applications. In our first year of providing free tax services, we filed 45 state and federal tax returns.
The tough economic conditions facing our state have not missed this community. Growing unemployment has brought greater demand for our services. In addition to continuing to provide food and financial aid for families in crisis in the next year, we also want to provide 90 local families with a special box of food for the holidays.
We need your assistance:
• A gift of $10.00 would provide enough toiletries, paper products and diapers for one week.
• A gift of $25.00 would allow us to purchase enough food from the Food Bank to support our food pantry for one week.
• A gift of 50.00 will help us purchase supplies and equipment for the Benefit Bank.
• A gift of $75.00 will allow us to purchase the items needed for a Christmas food/toy box.
• A gift of 100.00 will allow us to help a family when they receive a disconnection notice.
Please send your gift to C.A.M.P %US Bank, 38 N. Broadway Farmersville OH 45325. If you are interested in volunteering at the food pantry or the Benefit Bank please send a note.
Glory be to God, and Thank you for your gifts,
C.A.M.P Board Pastor Karel Hanhart, Pam Morneault, Carol Schrieber, George Shell, Kimberly Steward
